Public Discussions Program

An Open Exchange of Ideas and Best Practices

Public Discussions ProgramThe issues facing today’s public manager can be complex, inter-related, and far-reaching. The information and ideas exchanged among professionals have become valuable resources for practitioners. The Public Manager, a unique public management journal, announces the launch of a groundbreaking new opportunity for putting it all together—the Public Discussions Program.

Three interactive opportunities comprise the Public Discussions Program (PDP):

Small Group Seminars

Small Group Seminars, held 6-8 times throughout the year, focusing on specific tools and techniques germane to public policy practitioners. Offered in collaboration with partners of The Public Manager, the seminars will focus on specific issues such as performance measurement or strategic human capital.

Open Discussion Forums

Open Discussion Forums, held 2-3 times a year, will allow greater freedom of thought in addressing pressing challenges for public managers. Forum topics will cover issues such as curbing corruption and overseeing contractor performance.

Annual Conference

Annual Conference—This groundbreaking series of diverse, audience-driven seminars and forums culminates with The Public Manager and ASPA's 2009 Annual Conference (November 2-3, Washington, DC). The annual conference affords an interchange of ideas and best practice insights on  “Strengthening Trust in Government: Opening Dialogues, Building Collaborations.”
